Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Verify your bilingual proficiency and earn course credits for French and English courses without the coursework.
Why RPL?
Save time and money.
We recognize that students face unique pressures that hinder a healthy work-life balance. With a reduced workload, there’s more time for you to focus on other priorities such as work and extracurricular activities.
Take other courses you enjoy.
RPL allows you to advance your professional development by freeing up space in your course schedule to explore new topics that interest you.
Break educational barriers.
We recognize that not all students acquire knowledge in the same way. Many factors shape one’s pathway; by offering another option to validate your knowledge, learning is more accessible and inclusive.
Feel confident in your knowledge.
The facilitation of traditional college programs can undermine students’ informal knowledge gained through life experience. We want to empower you by aligning your existing skill-sets with course requirements.
How do I apply?
1
Pre-test
Before applying for RPL, students must take a pre-test to determine if they have the required level in French and/or English.
2
Application
If you pass the pre-test, you will be able to apply for RPL and pay the applicable fees (168,32 $, taxes included).
3
Grading
If you want to validate more than one course through this process, you must submit an application and pay the applicable RPL fees for each course.
You can access the pre-tests on Moodle. Pre-tests must be completed before the course registration deadline for each academic session.
Once the pre-test has been completed and validated, your recognition request form should be emailed to the college academic advisor, Oriane Le Falher.
What courses are available?
RPL is currently available for the following French and English courses (1st and 2nd year):
